Hoka®, a brand of Deckers Brands (Nyse: Deck), is pleased to present the latest collaboration with the Canadian-Ghanaian designer Spencer Badu, which marks the official entry of the designer into the shoe industry. Known for its high -quality and subversive clothing inspired by uniforms, Badu gives the collaboration a deep personal touch that is rooted in the diaspora, discovery and the journey to itself.

“The first shoe was a big challenge,” said Spencer Badu. “I wanted to create something that reflects the story of my brand. We design for movement, both physically and emotionally, and this collaboration is an expression of it. It represents the journey that we take to understand ourselves and our roots.”

The collaboration interprets the “Elevon X Silhouette” from Hoka with a strong yellow upper material and iconic details, reflect the bathroom roots. In addition to the Spencer Badu-Logo, the shoe contains a Kaurimuschel, which was once used as a currency on the Ghana gold coast, and two Adinkra symbols: FawoHodie (freedom) and Nyame Dua (tree of life), which represent spiritual protection and personal exemption.

“This partnership embodies the true spirit of a successful collaboration: authenticity, movement and meaning,” says Thomas Cykana, Hoka-Senior Director of Global Collaborations and Partnerships. “Spencer brought in a vision that coincides with our values, and together we created an emotional story that is told by his eyes.”

The collaboration is also brought to life by a short film staged and produced by Badu. The film, which was made between Ghana and Toronto, captures moments of self -observation and movement, from busy scenes on Accras Makola Market to calm, personal scenes in the studio of the designer, and serves both as a visual campaign and as an artistic statement.

The “Spencer Badu Elevon X” is available on the website of Spencer Badu and in boutiques as well as on the website of Hoka and from authorized retailers worldwide. Recommended retail price: 210 euros.
