SortPello, 13 Jun. (askanews) – In the heart of Umbria, Spello prepares to live the expected weekend of the artistic infiorators of Corpus Domini, scheduled for June 21 and 22, which will transform the village into an open -air museum two kilometers long, with rugs and floral paintings largely large up to 70 square meters, made only with petals, leaves and other vegetable elements, without glue or coloring. Along the way also the floral picture with which the infioratori will pay homage to Pope Francis, in the year of the Jubilee of hope.
This tradition, documented since 1602, today recalls tens of thousands of visitors: the highlight is the “night of the flowers”, between Saturday and Sunday, when 2,000 people – including about 500 children – work tirelessly to compose the works.
Visitors will be able to participate actively, supporting the infioratori masters in a creative and collective experience. Restaurants and restaurants will remain open all night, while the streets of the center, where the “Windows, balconies and flowering alleys” competition is also held, will be animated by itinerant shows, photographic exhibitions, Florovivaistic and live music market exhibition.
The flowers will also be protagonists at the table with show cooking and floral cooking courses to learn to prepare dishes with edible flowers such as Tagete, Begonia and Chrysanthemum, led by expert chefs. Flower -based gastronomic proposals will also be available in the Floral Street Food area, active near the Villa dei Mosaici from Friday evening to Sunday evening.
At dawn on Sunday the infioratte will be completed and judged by a commission of experts, before the Corpus Domini procession, which as tradition will cross the colorful floral rugs, paying homage to their ephemeral beauty.
