Spectator restrictions: RB Leipzig wants to continue to sue

Munich (dpa) – Despite the recent easing of spectator capacities in the stadiums of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig wants to maintain its lawsuit against the restrictions.

“Many things are no longer understandable for us. We also said that football cannot and must not be used for symbolic politics. There must be sensible solutions. We still don’t get it into our heads that in the theater or Every second seat in the cinema can be occupied and so far every 48th in our country. We will therefore continue to complain,” said RB Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff to the Sky TV channel.

The state government of Saxony had cleared the way for a spectator capacity utilization of 25 percent on Tuesday. According to Mintzlaff, half the seats would be appropriate. “We have a health concept approved by the city of Leipzig with 50 percent (utilization). Of course we want to implement that.”

According to the previous emergency regulation, a maximum of 1000 guests were allowed in Saxon stadiums. Leipzig’s next home game is on February 11 against 1. FC Köln.
