A crazy nighttime ride with speeds of up to 220 kilometers per hour. The police have shared images of a spectacular chase on the A27 and A58 on May 31 this year. This comes to an end when the fleeing driver crashes in Gilze.

The images show how a car speeds past at high speed on the A27 just before the Oosterhout/Dongen exit. A stolen car, it turns out. When the officers then give chase, the escapee’s lights quickly go out.

What follows is a mile-long ride, with speeds regularly exceeding 200 kilometers per hour. In the meantime, the stolen car weaves from lane to lane, the driver threatens to take a turn several times, and then takes off again via the emergency lane.

Ultimately, the escapee leaves the highway at the Bavel exit. It does not yet mean the climax of the chase, because it continues for several kilometers. In Gilze the police are in danger of losing sight of the car. Not for long, because when the officers turn the bend, they see the wreckage of the car. The driver had crashed into a house at full speed in Biestraat just before.

Without major consequences for the occupant – or occupants – apparently, because they have now fled on foot. And still no suspect has been arrested.
