Havezate Oldengaerde in Dwingeloo is a special artwork richer. It is a painting by Louis Albert Roessingh. Since the beginning of this month, the painting has been hanging in the suite room of the historic building.

The painting, made in 1897, shows a characteristic Drents Heideveld with three children playing. The work was in the possession of the Sloet van Oldruitenborgh family, who decided to donate it to the Drenthe landscape. This foundation has taken care of the havezate just outside of Dwingeloo.

The Goudomrande artwork by Roessingh reflects the impressionist style that he became familiar with. The Drenthe landscape regularly turned out to be a source of inspiration for several of his works.

The cradle of the painter was in Assen, after which he left for Antwerp to study. During the First World War he returned to his birth province. Roessingh had a house built in Elp; called De Zandhoeve. Later Roessingh also started poetry.

The painting probably does not go unnoticed in the Oldengaerde Havezate. The suite room in which the work hangs is rented out for meetings and other meetings. Furthermore, the space is visited during tours and open days in the havezate.
