The SP in the Limburg Parliament wants the province to check more closely at waste processing companies.

The party thus responds to the results of waste checks by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate.

This showed that all eight inspected waste processors in Limburg had violated environmental legislation. Six times administrative action was taken and twice a criminal report was issued. A further investigation will be carried out at three companies. The SP says it is shocked that no company has its affairs completely in order.

Consequences for public health
Through written questions to the provincial government, the SP wants to find out which companies are involved and which violations are involved. Group chairman Marc van Caldenberg and member of parliament Jorge Wolters Gregório also wonder whether there have been consequences for public health.

They also want insight into the checks that have been carried out in the past five years by the two Regional Implementation Services (RUDs) in Limburg. And whether the province finances the waste companies involved in any way directly or indirectly, for example through the Limburg Energy Fund (LEF). This is intended for projects in the field of sustainability and energy saving.
