South curve in the Munich Arena

After a UEFA pyrotechnic penalty, FC Bayern Munich will close parts of the south curve in the next Champions League home game against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise from Belgium. Around 9,300 fans are probably affected and are not allowed to attend the game.

After the pyrotechnic penalty by the European Football Union UEFA, FC Bayern Munich is closing larger parts of the south curve than it has to for its next home game in the Champions League. All tickets for the lower tier of the fan curve in question would lose their validity and “do not entitle you to enter the Allianz Arena against Saint-Gilloise. The tickets will be canceled on Friday,” FC Bayern announced.

Punishment for firing fireworks against Sporting

Due to the setting off of fireworks in the home game against Sporting Lisbon (3-1) on December 9th, UEFA decided that blocks 111 to 114 in the lower tier of the south stand of the Allianz Arena would remain closed in the next Champions League home game on January 21st against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise from Belgium. Bayern were initially spared the entire south stand having to be closed.

“Since there is no block-by-block allocation of tickets for FC Bayern’s home games in the lower tier of the south curve and all 9,336 tickets for blocks 109 to 117 are valid, it is technically not possible for the club to specifically cancel only the 4,800 tickets for blocks 111 to 114,” explained the German football record champions. “For this reason, as a first step, all tickets for the south curve will be canceled and the club will refund the entry price to the respective buyers.”

Free block voting makes partial blocking impossible

In the standing area of the south curve, which includes blocks 109 to 117, there is free choice of blocks. The “first come first serve” principle applies there: whoever arrives first gets a place until the block capacity is reached. According to CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, the Munich-based company had also sought an exchange with the Ultras in advance of the decision.

If the places in blocks 109 to 110 and 115 to 117 go on sale again at a later date, the club will provide “timely and targeted information about the next steps and organizational details,” the Munich-based company wrote.
