A Swiss snowboarder by Sophie Hediger the death shocked sports circles at the beginning of the week.

The 26-year-old Olympic athlete was caught in an avalanche in the Alps on Monday.

Now a Swiss magazine Blick’s supplier Nicola Abt writes how he conducted perhaps the last interview of Hediger’s life. Abt spoke with the snowboarder on the phone just three days before the tragedy.

The Swiss journalist was left with a considerate image of Hediger. The woman was also very passionate about her sport, and told Abti about her new sponsor, which she had acquired with hard work.

When Abt asked about Hediger’s goals for the 2026 Winter Olympics, the answer was perhaps the last in this life.

– I want to win a medal there, Hediger said.

The interview ended like a wall when the signal to the Alps was cut off. Abti was supposed to talk to the snowboarder again during the Christmas holidays, but the opportunity never came.

– That was the last sentence I heard from him, the journalist wrote sadly.

– I will wait for your call for the rest of my life – in vain. I would have been so happy if I could have talked with you again about your greatest passion. Rest in peace, Sophie, Abt concluded his article.
