84-year-old Sonja Barend has presented talk shows on television with great success in the past. The former presenter now enjoys watching Eva Jinek and Bar Laat, but the most popular talk show in the country? She lets it pass her by. She thinks Today Inside is a terrible program to watch.
Rude and dirty
Twan Huys asks Sonja in a podcast if she ever watches the program. “No, I never look at that. Someone said to me the other day, “Do you ever see that?” I said, ‘No, I’ve never seen that before.’ They couldn’t believe that.”
And then? “Then I took one look and yes, of course, those are guys. It’s really not for me. It’s not the kind of fun I like. I’ve only seen one and I think they’re strange, rude and a bit dirty men. Yuck yuck. It’s not my cup of tea.”
Ordinary
Sonja is not surprised that VI is a big hit. “Oh, yes, I understand very well that many people watch it. Of course I understand that. It’s vulgar, funny, rude…”
She will never be able to get used to that herself. “It wasn’t like I thought: next time.”
