Peltola had joked before the boy was born that the child would become a heart surgeon or an NHL player. However, in the delivery room, the family was told by the doctor that the result of the DNA test is Down syndrome.
– Ahead was a leap into the unknown. For a while I was really confused and sensitive, I could burst into tears in public places. Sometimes I even felt outright anger. I asked why it had to go this way, Peltola tells Anna magazine.
The initial shock lasted a few weeks and after that normal life with the child began. Today, 12-year-old Osmo can’t read or write much more than his own name. Peltola was very happy when Osmo learned to ride a bike.
Peltola has not sought peer support for the family’s situation.
– We cannot control our fate. But it’s nice to have people around who have the same experiences. I growl quite sensitively when I meet a stranger who has a down child with him, Peltola describes to the magazine.

On December 16, Peltola and Osmo will start their first joint work project: Peltsi and Osmo program Yelle. Peltola talked about it earlier in the fall in the Aki Linnanahte podcast.
– Osmo is really excited about this. He has told everyone at school that he will become a TV star, Peltola revealed earlier in the fall.
Mikko “Peltsi” Peltola is a well-known presenter and journalist. He has acted as a presenter in several different TV programs and televised events, including the Seinäjoki Tango Market.
Peltola has also hosted several of its own batch programs on Ylen channels.
Peltola and his spouse Anu have two children together.
