5 days until the wedding

Review by Something very bad is going to happen:
The leitmotif that accompanies the episodes it is a strong anxiety combined with a single question: why doesn’t the future bride run away? The answer it is the same one that keeps the viewer glued to the screen: because he wants to see how it will end. A more than promising reason for the horror genre.
The undoubted quality of this miniseries created by Haley Z Boston (Guillermo del Toro’s cabinet of curiosities) And produced by the Duffer brothers Of Stranger Things, it’s in the sophisticated way of telling horrorwhether real or imagined. Fear does not come by showing it as it is but by suggesting it using small and perfect sound signalswhich amplify the feeling of danger.
With the same intent, the camera movements they abruptly impose altered close-ups and low-angle shots for magnify the tricks of the mind even in neutral situations or moments of joy. The script has enormous fun in the placement scary traps in innocent conversations. For example, the true crime radio program that the couple listens to in the car, I tell you of macabre and scabrous details as they head towards their happiness (or so they think). Or the bizarre stories of her sister Portia which inspire her nephew who is ready to stage the death of the new arrival.
To lead the audience into Rachel’s anxieties is added the psychological leverage of the marriage described like the cage of love (and motherhood as a problematic choice). An institution that turns people into monsters, ready to give the worst of themselves. «Marriage destroys love. I don’t want this poison to accompany us, I don’t want us to become like them, I want to live with you but without all this.” Who wouldn’t run away from this sad declaration of intent?

The cast: Camila Morrone, Adam DiMarco and a beautiful soundtrack
Adam DiMarco and Camila Morrone they form one perfect couple. They are capable of swearing eternal love to each other and moving on to a dramatic clash in a few seconds while always remaining credible. The Canadian actorseen in The White Lotus 2, find the right key of kindness and emotional dependence for Nicky. However, what really surprises is Camila Morrone. The American-Italian-Argentine actress and model, after leaving her boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio, dedicated herself totally to acting starting from the series The Night Manager 2. In the role of Rachel she is very skilled at drawing an ambivalent young woman divided between ancient fragilities and great strength of mind.
To help the work of the two there is also an excellent soundtrack. A poignant classic like You are my destiny by Paul Anka accompanies the scariest scenes with irony, while We will not be lovers by The Waterboys chases with melancholic energy the exit from the dream of the promised bride.
The veteran Jennifer Jason Leigh she’s at her best as one passive aggressive and manipulative matriarch who holds in his grasp a son who perhaps never grew up. We’ll see it coming soon in British drama New England Toys. Also worth mentioning the excellent Jeff Wilbuschhis Jules he is the character who ferries the protagonist when in doubt of madness and superstition (but it is also the most ironic note of the entire miniseries).
