At the airport An estimated 20,000 suitcases remained behind on Friday due to a technical problem.
The outage lasted for hours and the luggage had to be processed manually. Only at the end of the afternoon did the airport report that the malfunction in Departure Hall 2 had been resolved.

According to Schiphol, it may take a while before the suitcases are all in the right place. A KLM spokesperson says that the airline has already delivered ‘all the necessary suitcases’ and that they are ‘working hard day and night’.
Schiphol and KLM do not know how many suitcases have now been returned, but expect it to take a few more days. “We are doing everything we can together with airlines to get all luggage to travelers as quickly as possible,” says a Schiphol spokesperson.
