“Solvay careless with PFAS pollution in Italy”: “Eternal chemicals” have spread everywhere

People living near the Solvay plant in Spinetta, Italy, are between five and ten times more exposed to PFOA, or perfluorooctanoic acid, an adjuvant in the manufacture of Teflon. This is apparent from a report that the French-speaking public broadcaster RTBF broadcasts on Wednesday. The substance belongs to the PFAS, the “eternal chemicals” that are toxic, difficult to break down and have spread throughout the environment, with all the associated health risks.
