Oscar winner Sofia Coppola will direct the US feature film “Priscilla”, which is based on the biography “Elvis and Me” by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley herself. The material was already worked up in 1988 as a TV film by director Larry Peerce. The German title at the time was: “My life with Elvis”.

US actress Cailee Spaeny (25) and Australian Jacob Elordi (25) will play the Presleys. Pricialla’s intimate glimpses into her life with The King hit bookstores in 1985. The “New York Times” bestseller also became an internationally celebrated sensation.

Hollywood insiders report that Coppola had had this film on her agenda for quite some time as a follow-up to On The Rocks. She also adapted the script material and wants to start preparing for the shoot “immediately”.

Even the casting for the Elvis role turned into a spectacle; with Elordi eventually getting the coveted nod. Caillee Spaeny, who is also a singer, seemed set on day one of the project.

Deadline magazine reports that Sofia Coppola is once again working with her longtime collaborators, such as cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd, costume designer Stacey Battat, editor Sarah Flack and production designer Tamara Deverell. After the films “On The Rocks” and “The Bling Ring”, production company A24 also remains in the well-rehearsed team.

According to insider reports, filming for “Priscilla” will begin in Toronto in the fall. It will be interesting to see how the harsh Canadian winter will affect the work. A southern scenario on Lake Ontario in the north.
