Even after the break, Augsburg had the better chances. First, Maximilian Arnold headed a ball from Niederlechner off the line, and a little later the Wolfsburg box rang for the second time. Reece Oxford headed a corner to Niederlechner, who maneuvered the ball into the net in a technically demanding manner (63′).

A few minutes later, Pedersen made the preliminary decision. The Dane had snuck away on the left, received the ball appropriately and slammed it into the top left corner – a nice goal. A good 20 minutes before the final whistle the game was as good as decided.
Should the Lower Saxony afford further such weak performances as this afternoon in Augsburg, it should be very close again in the fight for relegation.
