Recommendations of the Editorial team
Three days before the opening of the Tomorrowland festival, the main stage was completely burned out-only the scaffold stopped. Shortly after the incident on Wednesday evening (July 16), the organizers announced that the festival on Friday (July 18) would take place as planned. On Friday afternoon the joyful news: there is also a new main stage. Apparently, Metallica has also made a contribution that should not be underestimated that the Tomorrowland Festival can take place for all visitors as planned.
Tomorrowland: Sound boxes come from Metallica
For the replacement stage, which is now before the burned -down main stage, the Metallica equipment was also installed, explained Debby Wilmsen, spokeswoman for the festival, according to “Bild”. The sound boxes were used for the band’s European tour and stored for upcoming concerts.
On the official Instagram page of the festival, the organizers published a post on Friday. It said: “A new setup for the main stage is ready. All artists will appear on all stages as planned.”
In the caption, they further specify the announcement: “Our teams work day and night – with heart and soul – to make the impossible: Tomorrowland Belgium 2025 opens its goals at 2:00 p.m.”
“An alternative setup for the beloved Mainstage is planned and – subject to last changes – should open at 4:00 p.m.. All other stages start with their artists as planned from 2:00 p.m.,” it continues.
In the meantime, the audience can celebrate carefree and enjoy the music at Tomorrowland. You only have to do without the spectacular stage that many months of planning had flowed.
Two emergency plans in advance
The news follows another Instagram post of the organizers: inside from Thursday (July 17), in which they presented two emergency plans. “Scenario 1”, as they called it, has apparently occurred.
“Scenario 2” would have occurred if the festival could have “not opened with full visitor capacity”. In this case, the organizers “Dreamville and the festival site on Friday had operated two separate areas to ensure the security of all guests”. An existing stage would then have acted as a main stage for the main acts. Visitors to the Dreamville camp would not have received access to the festival site.
With its new main stage, Tomorrowland can take place in the Belgian city of Boom as usual on two weekends – from July 18 to 20 and from July 25th to 27th. Around 400,000 visitors from over 200 countries are expected.
Appearance from hundreds of top international acts of the electronic music scene are planned on 16 stages-including Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, Eric Prydz, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Amelie Lens and Solomun. The festival is considered one of the largest of its kind worldwide.
