In the middle of the new Amy Winehouse-Biopic “Back in Black” she can suddenly be seen: a huge tooth gap in the incisors on the right. The tooth failure was not explained – it was suddenly there. Actress Marisa Abela shows her (artificial) teeth in the film without any shame, just as the real Amy Winehouse did it in real life.
But how did the tooth gap come about? Not how you could think through a fight. Not even as the result of their consumption of hard drugs. And yet her lifestyle came together with the poor “dental presentation”.
After the separation from her ex-boyfriend Alex Jones-Donnelly, Winehouse was often seen through the city with her drinker Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of Ozzy. First it was rumored that the tooth misalignment was due to one of its frequent alcohol excesses.
In an interview with MTV.com, however, Amy explained in 2008 that the truth is rather boring. She said, “My tooth was knocked out, that’s true”.
Amy Winehouse: End boss ice cubes
But not knocked out by a person. “I bitten and felt on an ice cube. I sat with my boyfriend and told him that he had to pull him out because he would come out at some point and it would be terrible and bloody.” And: “He didn’t want to pull it out, so I had to do it myself.”
Went with the tooth loss Amy Winehouse but confidently. She was in no hurry to let the teeth open, and instead preferred to hang out with her then fiance Blake Fielder-Civil and her new friend Kate Moss on the New York launch party for her model line.
Amy’s toothlessness was unable to harm her growing success in the United States: there were four Grammys in 2007 for “Back in Black”. And in September of the year she started a tour of North America. At the time of her early death in 2011 at the age of 27, she had had a new tooth used.
