Snowboarder Chloe Kim again Olympic champion in the halfpipe

The American favorite Chloe Kim has prevailed in the Olympic snowboard competition in the halfpipe. There was a respectable result for the German participant.

Leilani Ettel took eleventh place in US snowboard star Chloe Kim’s renewed Olympic victory. While the serial winner spectacularly repeated her halfpipe triumph from 2018 in the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou, the 20-year-old from Pullach showed a good performance in the final with 57.50 points. Silver went to Spain’s Queralt Castellet (90.25) behind the untouchable Kim (94.00), bronze went to Sena Tomito of Japan (88.25).

“It went really well. I’m very happy to even have been in the final with all my heroes,” said Ettel.

On the go to the final

Kim demonstrated her impressive dominance in the first run. Since her triumph four years ago in Pyeongchang, the 21-year-old has won every competition in the halfpipe. On Wednesday she was the first to reach the final in gentle gear.

In the men’s superstar Shaun White had previously reached his last halfpipe final in fourth place. There the American can make history on Friday (10.25 a.m. OZ/3.25 CET) with his fourth individual gold in five winter games. Andre Höflich (Kempten) is also involved in the decision.
