World champion ends career at the age of only 27

Daniela Ulbing is one of the best snowboarders in the world, was considered a favorite for the Olympics in Milan next year. But that’s history now.
Surprise in the ÖSV team: Daniela Ulbing resigns from active snowboard sports at the age of 27. The 2017 world champion draws an early conclusion-despite success and upcoming major events such as Olympics 2026 and the home World Cup 2027.
Ulbing had already taken a break last winter. In this phase, the decision to end the professional sport had matured. “Even after my break, I could no longer define performance -related goals,” she said now. The result: lack of motivation.
Even the big events of the coming years could no longer change them. “There is simply a few percent missing to give everything in preparation so that I can ride for victories and podium places in winter,” said Ulbing.
“I have the feeling that I have achieved a lot, so I proudly look back on my career,” said Ulbing as a farewell.
After the 2017 World Cup title, she won silver at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing and the 2023 World Cup in Bakuriani. There are also three small crystal balls and eleven World Cup victories.
