Snow on the way, RMI warns of slipperiness: tomorrow morning possible snow carpet up to 5 centimeters | Weather news

Today it will remain mostly cloudy with some light rain and some (melting) snow over the higher areas. In the west there may be some temporary clearing in the afternoon, but towards the evening the first winter showers will fall again. The maximums are between +2 degrees in the High Fens and +7 degrees in the west. This is reported by the RMI.

Melting snow is falling in some places in our country today, which means that it will immediately melt away again. “A snow layer is not formed today anyway”, our weatherman Frank Duboccage clarifies. In terms of slipperiness on the roads, according to Duboccage, “it will be all right”.

Tonight a more active disturbance will move from the North Sea over our country and snow will fall from it, which will remain in the interior. “That snow zone, that’s something to say to you”, says our weatherman, “because in principle, in some places, about fifteen centimeters of snow can fall in that precipitation zone”. They won’t all stay put, but by tomorrow morning Duboccage expects a snow carpet of about 2 to 5 cm. Then there is certainly a risk of slipperiness, the VTM weatherman warns, because the temperatures will be around freezing. “And then the morning rush hour could go completely wrong.”

By the sea, the chance of a carpet of snow is smaller. The minimums in the interior are between 0 and -2 degrees. Only at the sea does the mercury remain positive, with minimums around +2 degrees.

tomorrow morning It is cloudy with some (melting) snow. It will be drier in the afternoon, but often still cloudy. The maximums fluctuate around -2 degrees in the High Fens, around 4 degrees in the center and 5 to 6 degrees in the coastal region. The wind is moderate to fairly strong, at the sea even strong from north-northeast. Gusts of 50 to 60 km/h are possible, and even up to 70 km/h at the sea. Apart from the coastal region, the RMI warns with code yellow for slippery conditions in all other regions.

Saturday morning north of Sambre and Maas there are clear spells and it is often dry. Over the south of the country there is more cloud with a chance of snow showers. In the course of the afternoon it will be dry all over the country, except for a (winter) shower. We achieve maximums of -2 degrees on the Ardennes peaks to 6 or 7 degrees at the sea.

Sunday after a cold morning with widespread frost, it is mainly dry with clear spells. The maximums are between 0 degrees in the high Ardennes and 7 degrees at the sea.

Monday it will be cloudy and a precipitation zone will spread from northwest to southeast across the country. It mainly rains. In the Ardennes, precipitation can temporarily take on a winter character. The maxima are around 7 or 8 degrees in the center.
