Snoop Dogg’s life is being filmed

On Wednesday (November 9th) Universal Pictures announced that they are making a film based on the life of Snoop Dogg. The studio announced the news on Twitter, and Snoop Dogg shared the news, saying, “Finally. That’s gonna be fun”.

The 51-year-old Longbeach rapper released his debut album DOGGYSTYLE in 1993 and received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2018.

Saying, “What’s his name? Snoop Dooogggyyy Doooooggg. That’s right, we’re working with the Dogg Father personally to bring his legendary life story to the big screen,” Universal Studios announced. In addition to Snoop Dogg, who will of course be involved in the film, Joe Robert Cole will also be the screenwriter. Cole has worked as a co-writer on both Black Panther films. It will be directed by Allen Hughes, who directed Menage II Society, and Sara Ramaker, who worked on the documentary Parkland Rising.

“I’ve waited a long time to get this project off the ground because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect screenwriter and the best film company to work with that would reflect the legacy I’m trying to portray on screen and understand the memory I want to leave behind,” Snoop Dogg said of the film.

According to Joe Robert Cole, the studio “has proven that they can make a movie like this special.” 2015) responsible for the rap group NWA.

Snoop Dogg himself has had a number of film appearances, such as in “Training Day” (2001) and “Starsky & Hutch” (2004).

The rapper announced a few days before his Superbowl performance with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem that he had bought the Death Row Records label. Under the label’s stewardship he released his debut album and subsequent album THE DOGGFATHER until parting ways with them in 1998. Most recently he released the album GANGSTA GRILLZ: I STILL GOT IT with DJ Drama and in November the follow-up to Snoop Dogg’s DOGGYSTYLE will be released under the name MISSIONARY with Dr.Dre.
