In a fully pimped Fiat Multipla, Rob – Snollebollekes – Kemps tore into the Aquabest site in Best on Monday afternoon. His own Total Loss Festival will finally take place there in two weeks. Kemps has the honor of driving the first pile into the ground.

“Welcome to Road Abusers,” shouted the proud host as he got out of the car. “Is it parked properly?” With the Snollebollekes singer, laughter is never far away. Although he is dead serious about his own festival. “It’s all going to happen here.”

“Who knows, I might throw in another Bach joke.”

On the weekend of September 3 and 4, the site is packed with 9 stages, a Ferris wheel and more than 100 guest artists. And that varies from partying with Gerard Joling to beech with DJ Paul Elstak. “Who knows, I might throw in another Bach joke.” In short: a dream come true for Kemps.

“When we gave the first show at the Gelredome, we found out that our act is perfectly suitable for a mass audience. And how nice it is to combine that with other artists. Only there we have to cram it into a show of three hours. How nice is it if you set aside a whole weekend for it?”

That idea was originally supposed to lead to a day full of celebrations in 2020. “It was already sold out.” But yes, corona. “I don’t want to grumble about it, but the consequence was that it could not go on for two years.”

“I always see those end shows with fireworks. That seems so cool to me.”

And so it is now celebrated twice. “We thought: let’s give it extra gas with two days.” What the cheerful centerpiece itself is most looking forward to? “When I perform at other festivals, I always see those final shows with fireworks. That seems so cool to me. Now I can do that myself.”

Although Kemps is certainly not alone on the podium. “I also look forward to strolling, eating and drinking. As it should be at a festival. And if I have time, I might give a small surprise act here and there. Just a quick left, right all together .”

The former Smartest Man is also doing well outside his party act. This autumn we will get the second season of the popular Chansons!, he will replace Linda de Mol in Ik Hou van Holland and de Brabander will also get its own talk show.
