SNAKES ON MONDAY: “Jambon and Demir fought for a file where their party had nothing to gain”

Nothing but smiling faces at the end of last week after the tumultuous landing of the Flemish nitrogen agreement. Anyone who witnessed the joust in the Flemish Parliament before probably thought that it would never work out again. But when the agreement was presented, it seemed as if a spontaneous Kumbaya could erupt at any moment. After a long period of political paralysis, both the federal government, with its asylum agreement, and the Flemish government have succeeded in forging an agreement. That gives perspective for the future, because there are still plenty of hot issues.
