The Raadhuisstraat in Hoogerheide was strewn with flour during the day on Thursday. A truck driver came to unload new stock at the Leon Wilbrink bakery, but the hose came loose.

“We always blow two thousand kilos of flour into the silo in the bakery”, Pascal of the bakery explained on Friday morning in the radio program ‘WAKKER!’ on Omroep Brabant. “The driver thought to do this for a while, but something didn’t go quite right.”

“The truck became a sort of slurry cart.”

Images show that the hose of the tanker suddenly comes loose. “Then the truck turned into a sort of slurry cart.”

In the images you see a large cloud of dust forming and then the flour shooting into the street. “The man who came to unload, flew backwards himself a meter or two. He had to recover for a while. I think he found flower in his clothes on Thursday evening. Yes, this was a sensation.”

“On cars, on paving stones, it was everywhere.”

Cleaning the whitewashed street took quite some time. “I think the last clearing truck didn’t leave until six thirty in the evening. We scooped up three hundred kilos of flour in bags. On cars, on paving stones, it was everywhere. And then a lot of flour has gone.”
