Smoke and soot damage enormous after garage fire: ‘Runs in the millions, I think’

A fire raged at car dealer Van den Udenhout on Balkweg in Den Bosch on Thursday night. The fire started in a van in the garage. The fire was limited to that van, but the smoke and soot damage in the building is ‘gigantic’, according to a 112 correspondent. “I think it will be in the millions.”

A private security company received the report of the fire around half past four at night. When officers went to check the building, they indeed smelled a burning smell. The fire brigade was then alerted. It quickly scaled up.

“Everything is pitch and pitch black.”

The fire released a lot of smoke. “It is a gigantic building,” says the 112 correspondent. “Where there are cars, an office and a canteen. Everything is pitch black,” the 112 correspondent saw.

How the fire broke out is under investigation. A fan was used to clear the smoke from the building.
