A fire broke out in a caravan in the PC Boutensstraat in Haarlem this evening. Those present in the home were checked on site by ambulance personnel.
The fire in the caravan broke out around 6 p.m. this evening. Although it initially appeared to be a medium-sized fire, it quickly scaled up to a large fire. The fire brigade is currently still working to extinguish the fire.
No one was injured, those present in the home are being checked on the spot for smoke inhalation.
“We scaled up to a major fire because an extra water truck had to be brought in, it was difficult to get to the fire,” the spokesperson told NH.
Nasty smoke
The cause of the fire is not yet known. PC Boutensstraat has been closed off for the time being so that the emergency services can do their work.
Local residents are advised to close windows and doors and turn off automatic ventilation systems.
“There is plastic on fire and that produces a foul smell,” the spokesperson explains. “The fire is still smoldering, so it is advisable to keep everything closed for the time being.”
