The N33 between Gieten and Gieterveen was closed in both directions this morning due to icy conditions and several skids. According to a spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat, several reports were received, after which it was decided to close the road completely. “Then you choose the safest option. We want everyone to arrive safely at their destination,” the spokesperson said.
The road was temporarily impassable due to the ice. After about two hours, the N33 could be opened to traffic again.
