Slight storm damage on Sunday evening, gusts of wind persist | 1Limburg

Storm Franklin caused minor damage in Limburg on Sunday evening. After storm Eunice Friday, the KNMI again announced code yellow in the province for Sunday evening and Monday.

According to the KNMI, the wind gusts will rise to speeds of about 100 kilometers per hour in the course of Sunday evening. The reported damage is still limited for the time being.

Property damage
At an apartment complex on the Florijnruwe in Maastricht, panels blew loose. A window was also broken and glass fell on the road. The street was closed off and a cherry picker was involved. No one was injured in the incident.

On Oudemarktstraat in Tegelen, the fire brigade trimmed a tree that threatened to fall. By taking some of the weight off, the entire tree didn’t have to be removed.

Code yellow
In Limburg, code yellow applies from 20:00 on Sunday evening until 04:00 on Monday morning. After a short period of milder winds, the warning will be in effect again between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The announced code yellow means that people must be alert, because there is a risk of dangerous situations. Code orange is in effect in the coastal provinces.

Storm Eunice
On Friday, storm Eunice also left havoc in the Netherlands. Wind speeds above 140 kilometers per hour were measured. Eunice thus grew into the ‘severe storm’ category. Around 800 reports of damage were received in Limburg.

In the Dutch coastal provinces and the north, code red was applied for a long time. Four people died as a result of the storm, three of them in the Amsterdam-Amstelland region and a fourth in Adorp in Groningen.
