“Sky”: Greuther Fürth coach Leitl changes to Hannover 96

Dabrowski wanted to continue

A first version of the report went online at 7:13 p.m. Monday and was subsequently updated with new information.

Last week, rumors about a possible advance from Hannover 96 surfaced at Greuther Fürth’s coach Stefan Leitl. The 44-year-old has an exit clause in his contract with “Kleeblatt”, which runs until 2023, the amount of which has fallen due to the fixed relegation. Since this should only be valid until the end of the month, according to the “Picture” a meeting between the trainer and 96 sports director Marcus Mann.

Update 10:17 p.m.: sky followed up with his own report in the evening. A decision had been made, Leitl would become a coach in Hanover for the new season. The trainer makes use of his opt-out clause to take over from Lower Saxony.

Leitl, in which Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC are also said to be interested, was a guest in Hanover “in the past few days” to hold an “introduction and getting to know each other” with those responsible for Lower Saxony, wrote “Bild”. Mann did not want to confirm this when asked by the newspaper and emphasized: “Our focus is exclusively on the important game on Friday against Karlsruhe.”

Hannover 96: Dabrowski wants to stay up and become a coach in 2022/23

On the 31st match day, the league should also be mathematically perfect, even with a draw it could be so far, given the six-point lead over Dynamo Dresden. The fact that the “Reds” have such a lead at this point in the season is also thanks to Christoph Dabrowski, who took over the team in December as the successor to Jan Zimmermann – and wanted to have a say about the place on the bench.

“I see that I took over the team in a very difficult situation on the relegation place and got 22 points from 16 games, which are necessary for survival,” said the 43-year-old in a media round on Tuesday. “The goal from the start was to stay in the league. That’s my job and I’m convinced that I’ll do it successfully. And then there will be decisions. It’s clear that I want to continue here.”
