Skiing fiasco stirs up in Norway – Expert scoffed at arrogance

The Norwegian women flopped in the relay.

Kristin Fosnäs failed in the message. PDO

The women’s relay skied in Oberhof on Sunday was a celebration for the Swedes. The first team of the yellow-blues advanced to a convincing victory, dominating the events from the first leg to the last.

Sweden’s second team also reached fourth place.

Neighboring country Norway was instead humiliated by finishing fifth. The difference to the winning result was a crushing three minutes and 40 seconds. Another Swedish team also beat the representatives of the fjord region by almost a minute.

Norway’s performance was already ruined Kristin Fosnäs with a weak performance in the opening act.

– I feel that it is necessary to apologize to all of Norway, who followed the competition today. I had great difficulties and at no point could I get into a good rhythm, Fosnäs apologized in an interview with Viaplay.

The Norwegian team had to change its composition Heidi’s Weng due to illness. The star was promoted as a replacement Mathilde Myhrvold. The team also included Margrethe Bergane and Tiril Weng.

At last year’s world championships in Planica, Norwegian women celebrated the World Championship gold in the relay.

This season the relays have gone poorly. Narrator on Yle’s broadcast Kimmo Porttila could tell that the last time the Norwegian women’s team missed the podium twice in a row was 22 years ago.

Viaplay expert Niklas Dyrhaug pointed out that the world champion team had different women skiing, but that doesn’t explain everything.

– The difference between last season and this season is incredibly big. We need to assess what is the reason for that. There shouldn’t be such a big difference, Dyrhaug underlined.

– We were good at bragging about the Norwegian women last year for a good reason, because they surprised everyone in a positive way, but this year has seen too many failures. Many Norwegian women have performed well below their level.
