At the slalom of the Ski World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Lena Dürr is almost two seconds behind the leading Camille after the first round. The German, who has been struggling with a cold since Friday, went into the competition as a hope hope, but never found its rhythm – and also drove to behave.

An outdoor ski error also cost her a lot of time. The bronze winner from 2023 came to eighth and thus missed a good starting point for the second round. “I woke up sick yesterday and was only in bed, it wasn’t ideal,” she said in the ZDF interview. “But nevertheless: I still have another chance. Even if I’m really annoyed now.”

Swiss rast leads

Dürr also struggled with the conditions. Unlike in the past few days, the slope was very icy on Saturday. With this, Camille rasted best. The Swiss woman caught an almost perfect run where the competition could no longer come by. A World Cup medal would be the greatest success of her career for the 25-year-old.

The second fastest Katharina Liensberger goes into the second round (59.49s). The Austrian drove bravely, slid away slightly in the lower part, but showed a strong run overall. Especially on the target slope, she put on a famous journey.

Shiffrin in lurk position

US superstar Mikaela Shiffrin also started well, but, like Wendy Holdener, had previously (currently in fourth place) with the last section and lost time. With third place, however, she brought herself to a good starting point for the second round. The goal is clear: After gold in the team combination, Shiffrin wants to register with the second precious metal at this World Cup after her serious injury.

For Emma Aicher and Jessica Hilzinger, it was also disappointing from a DSV perspective. Aicher did not get into the rhythm, a mistake brought her out completely, she gave up. Hilzinger left after the first meantime.
