Embacher celebrates his debut victory

Stephan Embacher from Austria was able to celebrate on the first day of ski flying. With 232 and 225 meters, Embacher prevailed against the Japanese Tomofumi Naito and Johann Andre Forfang from Norway. Isak Andreas Langmo narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing fourth just 0.9 points behind his teammate. Overall World Cup winner Domen Prevc had to settle for fifth place on the first day of flying. Qualification canceled after crash and difficult conditions

The Women’s World Cup had to be canceled in the final in the morning after a significant deterioration in the weather. Strong and unpredictable gusts made it impossible to carry out safely. Things didn’t go according to plan for the men either. The qualification was canceled after only nine jumpers. The start was overshadowed by a serious fall from Kacper Tomasiak. According to initial information, the Pole is conscious and responsive. As team boss Wojciech Jurowicz announced, Tomasiak hit his head on the landing slope after landing when the binding came loose and was initially very dazed. However, the initial examinations by the medical team on site did not reveal any acute abnormalities.
