Andreas Wellinger was eliminated from the qualifying competition in Lillehammer and lost his good starting position in the overall standings at the “Raw Air”. Number one is now tour winner Halvor Egner Granerud.
Andreas Wellinger gambled away all chances of a top placement on the Raw Air Tour in Norway. The second at the World Championships failed on Monday (March 13th, 2023) in Lillehammer with a jump of 104 meters as the 53rd surprisingly in the qualification and missed the entry into a World Cup for the first time since December 2021. Wellinger, who was still fifth and eighth at the weekend in Oslo despite having a cold, has been doing well in the overall standings so far in seventh place. “This hurts us very, very much“said national coach Stefan Horngacher. “He was at the take-off too early and then got a strange gust of wind. This is bitter for us.“
There was a change at the top of the “Three Hills Tournament”: Halvor Egner Granerud won the qualification with a jump of 142 meters, after the seventh of 18 jumps he is now just ahead of Stefan Kraft (901, 8th). The Austrian had to settle for ninth place on Monday.
Six Germans in the competition
Karl Geiger left the best impression of the DSV jumpers, who raised hopes for the competition on Tuesday (March 14, 2023, in the live stream on sportschau.de) in tenth place. In the raw air ranking, however, the man from Oberstdorf dropped from sixth to eighth place with 857.6 points. Stephan Leyhe (15th), Constantin Schmid (18th), Philipp Raimund (21st), Justin Lisso (32nd) and Markus Eisenbichler (33rd) also survived the qualification.
The Raw Air Tour runs over ten days from Oslo via Lillehammer to Vikersund. All jumps from the qualifications and competitions are included in the overall ranking, and the winner receives 80,000 euros.
