Ski jumping live: Planica HS 240 team in the live ticker | 03/26/2022 09:45

10:34

To be continued soon

After a short break, the final round of ski flying in Planica begins! Since there are only eight nations on the starting list, we see every team a second time.

10:32

DSV quartet far behind

The first round did not go according to plan for the team of the German Ski Association! After weak opening jumps by Markus Eisenbichler and Constantin Schmid, the team fell behind early on. At least Andreas Wellinger and Karl Geiger were able to convince afterwards, but the gap to the front is already over 100 points.

10:30 a.m

Slovenia leads ahead of Norway

The favorite is at the top of the rankings at half-time, but it’s currently closer than expected! 15.6 points ahead of Norway takes Slovenia into the final. The Austrian final jumper Stefan Kraft secured third place for his team for the moment. The Alpine republic will probably have a duel with Poland.

10:27

Austria

The first round in the Plancia team competition is completed by world record holder Stefan Kraft! The Austrian is not deterred by the lower inrun, due to a strong 237.5 meters he even pushes his team past Poland to third position.

10:26

Germany

The last jumper from the German team is Karl Geiger, who unfortunately lost his excellent form from the beginning of the season. After all, he now beats Anze Lanisek and registers a small sense of achievement with 229 meters.

10:25

Slovenia

The updraft is increasing, so the jury lowers the run-up bar one more hatch. Nevertheless, Anze Lanisek rounds off the half-time lead for the clearly favored hosts in all probability. But the Slovenian can’t get past 222.5 meters.

10:23

Norway

Craziness! Halvor Egner Granerud has apparently finally recovered from a brief slump in form at the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund. The Norwegian takes the full risk and at 244 meters stays just half a meter below his personal best.

10:22

Japan

The Japanese team put their by far most experienced jumper at the very end. In the meantime, Daiki Ito can no longer fully repeat his heyday, after just 192.5 meters his flight is over.

10:21

Poland

Can the Polish figurehead and three-time Olympic champion take his team even closer to the top? Yes, he can! With 227 meters, Kamil Stoch is at least in the running for third place.

10:20

Switzerland

It is not yet certain whether we will see Simon Ammann again in the coming season. The potential for a continuation of his career is definitely there, because after 217.5 meters the Swiss rightly clenches his fists and lets himself be celebrated by the spectators.

10:18

Finland

Also in the fourth and last starting group from the first round, the start is reserved for the Finnish team. Niko Kytösaho does an excellent job for his standards and puts the DSV quartet under pressure again with 213 meters.

10:16

Austria

One of the biggest positive surprises of the winter was Manuel Fettner, who finally crowned it with an Olympic individual medal. With 222 meters, the Austrian keeps his team in fourth place, who are now eight points behind third-placed Poland.

10:15

Germany

Yesterday, Andreas Wellinger beat Severin Freund with an excellent second jump and got a place in the team. Today he is again the first German who can convince and has at least a distance of 220.5 meters, which pushes the DSV quartet ahead of Finland.

10:14

Slovenia

Strong by Timi Zajc! The hosts attack with the winner of the World Championships silver medal from Vikersund, who almost naturally flies to 240.5 meters and thus sets a new best of the day to the cheers of the home fans.

10:13

Norway

Now it’s Johann André Forfang’s turn, who again has to deal with one hatch less run-up. Nevertheless, the Norwegian conjures 226 meters up the slope and keeps his team in a good position.

10:11

Japan

Behind the four victorious Slovenians, Ryoyu Kobayashi was the best international jumper in fifth place yesterday and is about to triumph in the overall World Cup tomorrow. Here he gets a solid try, but with 234 meters almost more was possible in these updraft conditions.

10:10

Poland

Normally Jakub Wolny should now be able to clearly surpass both Kalle Heikkinen and Luca Schuler, and he can do that! The Pole pushes himself aggressively off the take-off table, stays on it to the end and flies to 233.5 meters.

10:08

Switzerland

Luca Schuler is also not expected to achieve a significant distance here, as he rarely plays a real role in the World Cup. Due to a rather restless flight phase, the Swiss has to start the landing well before the 200 meter mark.

10:07

Finland

It immediately continues with the third starting group in the first round, which is opened by Kalle Heikkinen. With another two more hatches, the Finn sails to 170 meters and will probably lose a few points for his team.

10:05

Austria

Daniel Tschofenig doesn’t let himself be disturbed by the good starting position and also flies far down the hill! With 211 meters and convincing grades in posture, the quartet from Austria remains in fourth place, just behind Poland.

10:03

Germany

Like Markus Eisenbichler, Constantin Schmid also missed the final in the individual competition yesterday despite promising training performances. The performances that can be improved will probably remain in the team competition, because Schmid hits his head in frustration after 187 meters.

10:02 a.m

Slovenia

Ski flying suits Peter Prevc, whose form over the past few days and weeks has been reminiscent of his most successful times. Now he has to deliver because of Ziga Jelar’s weaker start, but he also only manages an almost disappointing 226 meters.

10:01 a.m

Norway

In the Norwegian team, Bendik Jakobsen Heggli is the big unknown. However, the 20-year-old solves the task quite well and keeps his team on the podium with a solid distance of 214 meters.

10:00 a.m

Japan

Keiichi Sato does not get into this area, so the Japanese has to land after a distance of 178.5 meters. He can hardly take anything with him about his attitude either, the team is already more than 50 points behind the current leader Poland.

09:59

Poland

Wild flight by Dawid Kubacki! The Polish jumper works a lot with his upper body throughout the flight. Nevertheless, he can conserve plenty of speed and sail up to 218.5 meters.

09:58

Switzerland

After surviving his cruciate ligament injury, Kilian Peier felt his way back to his old strength this winter. Today, however, the Swiss leaves only a big question mark, as he falls after 176 meters and waves his hand in disappointment.

09:57

Finland

With one hatch more attempt, the jury sends Eetu Nousiainen on the way as the first athlete of the second block. Of course, that helps the Finn, who has a useful distance of 213 meters for his team.

09:54

Austria

Michael Hayböck is responsible for completing the first group. The Austrian cannot catapult his team to the very front, but 216 meters means a reasonable start and fourth place in the intermediate classification.

09:53

Germany

Yesterday Markus Eisenbichler did not reach the second round in the individual competition, does the Siegsdorfer find his flying form now? No! He sails extremely flat over the first section and can therefore no longer correct anything, after 196 meters it’s over for him.

09:52

Slovenia

After his first World Cup win the day before, Ziga Jelar pushes off the beam with a whole lot of confidence. Nevertheless, the Slovenian cannot keep up with Marius Lindvik and lands after 224.5 meters – a first small setback for the favorite.

09:50

Norway

The reigning ski flying world champion Marius Lindvik goes over the take-off table and, befitting his status, sets a new personal best. The Norwegian takes full advantage of the excellent conditions and flies at a strong 240 meters.

09:49

Japan

A usual aggressive body language can be seen in Yukiya Sato’s flight phase. It carries the 26-year-old to 213.5 meters in a slight updraft, which means he only loses 5.7 points to Piotr Zyla.

09:48

Poland

Piotr Zyla is the first for Poland, who have to work through a disappointing season overall in the summer. He is nice in the air and is the first jumper to break the 200 meter mark, leading his team to the top.

09:47

Switzerland

Only eight teams take part in today’s competition, so no team is eliminated after the first round. Gregor Deschwanden therefore does not feel the great pressure, but it only reaches 193 meters.

09:47

Finland

Here we go with the last team competition of the season! Antti Aalto opens ski flying for the Finnish quartet with a distance of 176 meters.

09:43

Switzerland probably without a chance

The Swiss will have nothing to do with the placements on the podium, unless something extraordinary happens. As always, Simon Ammann is the focus of events, who has not yet decided on a possible continuation of his career. Alongside the established Kilian Peier and Gregor Deschwanden, Andreas Schuler completes the Swiss team, which is expected to fight for the red lantern against Finland.

09:39

Kraft leads ÖSV quartet

With Stefan Kraft, the Austrian team has one of the strongest ski flyers of the entire field in their ranks, who snatched the bronze medal at the World Championships two weeks ago. The 28-year-old will be supported today by his teammates Michael Hayböck, Daniel Tschofenig and Manuel Fettner. If the three last-mentioned jumpers bring a certain stability to the hill, then there is certainly a lot possible for the ÖSV in the front positions.

09:31

DSV wants compensation

In contrast to the Slovenians, the team of the German Ski Association is at best an outsider in the fight for the podium. In yesterday’s individual competition, the jumpers of national coach Stefan Horngacher disappointed across the board, only Karl Geiger and Andreas Wellinger managed to qualify for the second round. Today the DSV quartet will be completed by Markus Eisenbichler and Constantin Schmid, while the weakening Severin Freund and Stephan Leyhe will have to watch.

09:22

Slovenia is the clear favourite

Anything but a success for the host team from Slovenia would be a big surprise. The dominance was already overwhelming in the team jumping at the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund, yesterday they underpinned their high ambitions and took first to fourth place in the first individual competition on their home hill in Planica with Ziga Jelar, Peter Prevc, Anze Lanisek and Timi Zajc. The last time there was such a quadruple victory was in the 1980 World Cup.

09:15

Welcome!

A wonderful good morning and welcome to the Ski Flying World Cup in Planica! The athletes have another full program to complete on the last weekend of the season. Team jumping begins at 9 a.m. on the second of the three competition days.
