Ten Austrians in competition

Ten athletes entered the competition from the large Austrian team that had the national group at the start in Bischofshofen. The best performance of the qualification put Jan Hörl in a good fourth place. Daniel Huber and Stefan Kraft also did well in the qualification and they came in eighth and ninth in the top ten. Philipp Aschenwald qualified 13th ahead of Manuel Fettner (14th). Clemens Aigner (16th) and Michael Hayböck (18th) also entered the competition with a place in the top 20. The line-up is completed by Ulrich Wohlgenannt (24th), Daniel Tschofenig (31st) and Thomas Lackner (48th).

All DSV starters included

In the final competition of the tour, all DSV starters made it into the top 50. The best performance was delivered by Markus Eisenbichler, who could put pressure on Kobayashi as second when it comes to the Grand Slam. However, Karl Geiger has gained little self-confidence. With 123 meters he only ended up in 37th place. He will soon have to jump against ÖSV starter Manuel Fettner. Severin Freund qualified 19th, Stephan Leyhe is in demand as 26th in the first duel. Constantin Schmid finished the qualification in 29th, Pius Paschke and Andreas Wellinger complete the German result in 39th and 42nd.

Youngster Kos knocked off after falling

Lovro Kos from Slovenia was also in the middle of the race for the Golden Eagle for a long time. In the soft landing slope covered by fresh snow, however, the jumper from SSK Ilirija fell in the first round on Wednesday and had to bury all chances. Fortunately, however, the fall came off lightly and Kos was then able to jump back in the final.

Kobayashi before the second Grand Slam

Ryoyu Kobayashi could write himself in the history books today and be the first athlete to win the Grand Slam twice on the tour. The Japanese had already won the overall title with four wins in 2019. His bigger competitor is Marius Lindvik from Norway. That he can still take the overall victory from Kobayashi seems unlikely given his 17.9 point lead. Third on the tour is also a Norwegian with Halvor Egner Granerud. Markus Eisenbichler would certainly like to catch him today. The two athletes are only separated by 3.4 points. Karl Geiger also has a chance of the podium with 4.1 points behind.
