Ski jumping: Katharina Althaus botched World Cup dress rehearsal

Ski jumper Katharina Althaus messed up the dress rehearsal for the World Championships in Planica.

One day after her sixth win of the season, the Olympic silver medalist in Rasnov, Romania, had to settle for 22nd place in difficult wind conditions.

Five days before the first World Cup decision in Planica, it was the weakest result of the winter for the 26-year-old.

However, the competition was marked by numerous interruptions. The first round was only over after 101 minutes, and the jury then decided to abandon it. Victory went to the Norwegian Anna Odine Ström ahead of the Austrians Eva Pinkelnig and Julia Mühlbacher.

Juliane Seyfarth (Ruhla), who was not nominated for the World Championships, just missed the podium in fourth place. World Cup debutant Michelle Göbel (Willingen) impressed on her 19th birthday in 16th place. The World Championship riders Selina Freitag (Aue), Luisa Görlich (Lauscha), Pauline Hessler (Lauscha) and Anna Rupprecht (Degenfeld) were not at the start.

In the battle for the crystal ball, Althaus lost a lot of ground to the leader Pinkelnig (1482) with 1202 points.

On Friday Althaus from Oberstdorf had clearly won with jumps of 89.5 m and 98.5 m, on Saturday she landed after 72.5 m due to a botched jump.

In Planica, Althaus and Co. will be fighting for the individual medals on the normal hill on Thursday (5:00 p.m. / ZDF and Eurosport).
