Decision made? The German ski jumpers and the new national coach Andreas Mitter will probably cooperate with Bulgaria’s national team again in the 2026/2027 season.
“We have practically already agreed. We know Andi Mitter very well, after all he was Stefan Horngacher’s assistant,” said Grzegorz Sobczyk to “TVP Sport”.
The former ski jumper and now ski jumping coach has been working with Bulgaria’s top jumper Vladimir Zografski for a long time.
This commitment has also already been extended by the Bulgarian Ski Association – but initially only for another winter. “I wanted it to be a one-year contract. The talks went very well,” said Sobczyk.
The 45-year-old hopes that the continuation of the cooperation with the DSV will bring advantages for his protégé in the fight for further respectable successes in the World Cup.
“Vladi is 32 years old. I don’t think we need a new team or new contacts. The [deutschen] Jumpers know him, they know us, we trust each other. I think this is the best thing for us,” Sobczyk said.
Ski jumping: Sobczyk denies DSV rumors
Zografski moved from fourth to third place in Lahti in March after winner Domen Prevc was disqualified – the first ever World Cup podium finish for a Bulgarian ski jumper.
His 415 World Cup points in the past season and 20th place in the overall World Cup were also Bulgarian records in ski jumping.
Probably because of his successful collaboration with Zografski, Sobczyk was rumored to be a DSV candidate before Mitter’s enthronement as the new national coach.
The ex-ski jumper denied such reports back in April.
“There were no discussions between me and the German association,” the Pole emphasized to “WP SportoweFakty” at the time: “That was a false report. The only discussions I had concerned the question of whether we would continue to work with Vladimir with the German national team.”
