Ski jumping: Again only one round in Willingen

Willingen (dpa) – The Slovenian Nika Kriznar won the Olympic dress rehearsal of the ski jumpers in Willingen.

The 21-year-old won in the absence of the overall World Cup leader Marita Kramer from Austria, who was infected with the corona virus, ahead of Katharina Althaus from Oberstdorf. The best German jumper, who had finished second the day before, landed after 145 meters. Both on Saturday and Sunday the competition was canceled after one round due to difficult wind conditions.

On Saturday, Kramer had won the women’s individual premiere on the Großer Mühlenkopfschanze. The outstanding jumper of this winter subsequently received a positive corona test result and left before the start of the competition on Sunday. According to the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV), the 20-year-old has no symptoms. The ÖSV still hopes that Kramer can make it to the Winter Olympics with four negative PCR tests in a row. The highlight of the season will open in Beijing on Friday.

From the German team, Selina Freitag fell heavily on Saturday. After landing, the 20-year-old hit her head and upper body hard on the slope. Friday decided not to start on Sunday. National coach Maximilian Mechler said: “But so far she’s fine and we’re quite confident that she’ll be fit again by next week.” As the second best German, Juliane Seyfarth took 15th place, Pauline Hessler finished 19th.
