Ski – Descent of Crans, the Goggia comes back on: third. The Cup is one step away

In the second race Sofia finds herself and closes behind Nufer and Ledecka. All she misses is the final match: 75 points ahead of Suter, who is fourth today

Another step forward: after yesterday’s twelfth place Sofia Goggia is back on the podium downhill. In Crans Montana the Swiss Priska Nufer surprisingly wins – never on the podium of the Cup before today – and Sofia is third, at 23/100, behind Ester Ledecka (at 11/100 from the winner). Nufer is the surprise of the day: at 30, in the 143 World Cup race the Swiss hit her first success (her best result was the fourth place in the first descent of Crans Montana, yesterday).

For Goggia, on her fortieth career Cup podium, it is an important result especially for the race for the specialty trophy: Corinne Suter, number 1 opponent for the trophy and now the only contender, is fourth (at 27/100), at shoulders of Sofia. Now the blue points advantage are 75 and only the descent of the World Cup finals remains to be played, on March 16 in Courchevel. “Yesterday I accepted that I could not arrive earlier, today I said: let’s continue our rehabilitation process” commented Goggia.

Go Faith

Federica Brignone, brilliant after yesterday’s race that didn’t satisfy her, is seventh at 33/100, thanks also to an extraordinary first part of the race also for line choices. Elena Curtoni is thirteenth instead (at 88/100), while Nadia Delago is twentieth at 1 ”32. Older sister Nicol jumped a door after setting the fastest time in the first intermediate.

It was a very tight race, with the first 15 restricted in a second and with athletes like Venier who tried to revolutionize the podium (starting with 23, in the end the Austrian is fifth at 31/100 equal to Mowinckel ).

Fear Huetter

Very bad flight for the Austrian Cornelia Huetter: third in the last intermediate, she lost her balance in the final jump and fell badly. However, she got up immediately.
