Cross-country skiing superstar Frida Karlsson was followed by a stalker for almost a year. On Wednesday, the trial against the 65-year-old began, whose text messages to the Swede let all alarm bells shrill and contradict his own representation.

207 calls, countless text messages and more than 7000 photos on the cell phone: In the course of the investigation against the stalker of cross-country star Frida Karlsson, frightening details have come to light, among other things the newspaper “Aftonbladet” and also the broadcaster “SVT” report.

“SVT” was given insight into the files and published some of the stalker’s disturbing text messages. Among other things, he wrote to her: “You make my soul soft. I think of you and relax.” In another message, he described Karlsson as his “soul mate” and said: “When I see you, I feel that I long for you.”

Karlsson-Talker submits adventurous explanation

When Karlsson blocked the man on Instagram, he wrote her again and asked why she did it. “Why? Are you angry or irritated? I have to know,” he said from the cross-country star.

In contrast to what the stalker in the police interrogation said about his behavior. He described the immense amount of Karlsson pictures on his phone as “artistic approach. I want it to be viewed in this way,” said the accused, who, according to his own statement, had the feeling that he had a friendship with 25-year-old Karlsson.

The stalker is said to have not only molested the long runner online, but also personally. In May 2024, for example, he appeared at a running event in which Karlsson took part. A few weeks later he was seen in front of the Swedish private house, where he was waiting for her at the entrance staircase. Karlsson wrote to him according to “SVT” information: “I don’t want to have anything to do with you.”

Designed ignores contact ban

In November 2024, a ban on contact was issued against the 65-year-old, which he did not accept according to his own statement. In the same month, the man tried twice to buy a flight ticket to Tenerife, where Karlsson was at that time. His second purchase was successful, but he did not appear at the airport.

When asked about this, he said in the interrogation when asked why he wanted to travel to Karlsson in Tenerife: “Because I am persistent and will not give up.”

The defendant’s lawyer claimed that his client did not pursue any bad intentions. “We will see whether he has crossed the line and is a criminal. But he says himself that he only meant well,” said the representative.
