Ski Alpin Semmering women: live ticker – slalom

15:49

Andrea Filser (GER)

The second German runner catapults herself out of the starting house and is aiming for the jump into the second round. Andrea Filser is concerned about safety, but constantly loses a lot of time. Ultimately, the 20th position jumps out with a gap of 3.16 seconds – that could work out.

15:47

Neja Dvornik (SLO)

Another very quick ending! Neja Dvornik does not make it to the first split. Slovenia slides away on the steep starting slope and misses the next goal after swinging to the left.

15:46

Aline Danioth (SUI)

The next Swiss woman is on the way! However, Aline Danioth has serious problems on the piste and repeatedly puts pressure on the outside ski too early. This is only possible in 22nd place, since the second round is just in sight.

15:45

Chiara Mayr (AUT)

The Austrians are under increasing pressure after a mixed start to the season and are determined to deliver in front of their home crowd. However, Chiara Mayr does not manage to get anything out of the track and has to end the race after a driving error in the middle section.

15:44

Amelia Smart (CAN)

As is so often the case, Amelia Smart takes full risks and pushes her way to the limit. The Canadian is therefore fast at first, but towards the end of the route she runs out of breath. A little more than 18th place was possible!

15:43

Nastasia Noens (FRA)

Nastasia Noens now represents France and gets a respectable result from the increasingly difficult conditions, which is definitely okay. They are 2.37 seconds behind the finish line – that’s enough for the second run.

15:41

Kristin Lysdahl (NOR)

The next Norwegian has to wait another break before she can go out on the track. Apparently, the Scandinavians had a pitch-black day today, because Kristin Lysdahl also falls miles behind and will have nothing to do with the outcome of the race.

15:38

Maria Therese Tviberg (NOR)

Maria Therese Tviberg tackles her run very cautiously and only gets somewhat on track at the end. But even then she can’t really release the ski and slides around too much. In the end, she finished 19th, which is why the Norwegian has to tremble for the second round.

15:37

Camille Rast (SUI)

The starting slope is almost fatal to Camille Rast too. Although the Swiss is still running, she loses a lot of time due to the blunder. Rast also collects a hearty pack of over three seconds.

15:35

Catherine Huber (AUT)

Katharina Huber, on the other hand, does not fit together this season, three of the four previous slaloms ended with a failure for her. It is only logical that the self-confidence of the Austrians has been badly damaged. This time, too, there is a gap of more than three seconds.

15:34

Zrinka Ljutic (CRO)

So what is that? Zrinka Ljutic has been on the track for a long time, so three helpers are still on the poles. Despite the moment of shock, the Croatian does her job outstandingly and catapults herself to seventh place with a very strong final slope!

15:32

Laurence St Germain (CAN)

That was a very short performance! Laurence St-Germain doesn’t even make it to the first split. On a left turn, the Canadian leans in too far and slips. This makes the first retirement of the race perfect.

15:30

Thea Louise Stjernesund (NOR)

Thea Louise Stjernesund is increasingly knocking on the first starting group and needs a good result for the next leap forward. Two long turns right after the start rob the Norwegian of a better starting position – only 16th place!

15:29

Hanna Aronsson Elfman (SWE)

Hanna Aronsson Elfman, who is celebrating her 20th birthday today, has already proven several times this winter that she has outstanding talent. Here, however, the Swede deviates from the ideal line early and cannot attack the front positions – in the end it is 1.75 seconds behind.

15:26

Leona Popovic (CRO)

The starting group of the top 15 will be completed by Leona Popović, who has established herself among the top ten in the slalom ranking. The Croatian presents a wild ride and is far from flawless. In eleventh place, she can still keep the damage within limits.

15:25

Ali Nullmeyer (CAN)

Ali Nullmeyer does her job much better. The Canadian proves it’s still possible to get a good result out of the track. With nice curves and self-confidence she goes down the slope, before after a good run she is in seventh place – she is only about five tenths short of the podium.

15:23

Michelle Gisin (SUI)

In the summer, Michelle Gisin changed materials and only got into this winter with difficulty. Again, the Swiss loses a lot of time early on and can only just prevent a failure with the middle section. A deficit of 1.67 seconds is still enough for a place among the top ten.

15:21

Martina Dubovska (CZE)

Martina Dubovska shows a slightly better balance than Mina Fuerst Holtmann before. In the middle section, however, a larger wobble creeps in. In the end, she ended up eleventh.

15:19

Mina Fuerst Holtmann (NOR)

It is possible that the slope is already easing a little. Mina Fuerst Holtmann’s hesitant drive is probably not an indicator of this, but in the last few minutes the gaps to Mikaela Shiffrin’s best time have increased.

15:18

Sara Hector (SWE)

The giant slalom expert Sara Hector is becoming more and more stable in the slalom and is now an integral part of the first starting group. Aggressively, the Swede punches through the bars, but this time doesn’t hit the optimal line. All in all, a big gap of 2.33 seconds adds up.

15:16

Catherine Troupe (AUT)

As a third-place finisher in the Killington slalom, the Carinthian was already on the podium this season. Today, however, it will be difficult to repeat this success. Numerous small uncertainties in the middle section throw Katharina Truppe back to seventh place.

15:14

Paula Moltzan (USA)

The group of top runners is through, how does Paula Moltzan fare in direct comparison? Very good, because at the top she is even faster than her teammate Mikaela Shiffrin. Although she then loses the thread a bit, Moltzan is still in third place, just ahead of Lena Dürr.

15:12

Lena Durr (GER)

Now it applies to Lena Dürr! The 31-year-old often drives better in the first runs than in the second run. The German can only keep up with Mikaela Shiffrin’s dream ride in the first phase. In the lower section, too, Dürr solves the task properly and saves himself on a good third place.

15:11

Mikaela Shiffrin (USA)

As the big favorite, Mikaela Shiffrin would like to crown her week at Semmering and win her third win in three days. The cushion of the Americans is three tenths after the technical starting slope. As a result, she once again leaves nothing to burn and safely lowers the barrel. In the end, Shiffrin crossed the finish line a whopping 72 hundredths ahead of Anna Swenn-Larsson – what an announcement!

15:08

Wendy Holdener (SUI)

With the huge self-confidence from the first two World Cup successes, Wendy Holdener is now catapulting herself energetically out of the starting gate. At the first split, the Swiss is immediately ahead. But then she loses her breath a little and sorts herself into third position.

15:06

Catherine Liensberger (AUT)

That can not be true! For the first time the noise level in the finish area increases noticeably because Katharina Liensberger is the first local hero in line. But the Austrian slipped away on the starting slope, lost more than four seconds and will most likely miss the second run.

15:05

Anna Swenn-Larsson (SWE)

Just like Wendy Holdener, Anna Swenn-Larsson finally celebrated her first World Cup victory recently. The Swede seems to benefit from the newly gained security. She minimizes the slip phases, revs up a lot, especially on the final slope, and takes the lead in front of Petra Vlhová!

15:03

Petra Vlhova (SVK)

The reigning Olympic champion in this discipline winds her way through the forest of poles somewhat inconspicuously. However, Petra Vlhová seems to be keeping her skis on the go, because the Slovakian is building up a clear lead early on in the run. It’s 63 hundredths at the finish – that’s the new best time!

15:01

Ana Bucik (SLO)

Here we go! Ana Bucik opens the last World Cup at Semmering. After a technical first sector, it continues with a long rhythmic part. The Slovenian masters this task without any visible mistakes and lets the clock stop after a running time of 51.46 seconds.

14:52

The external circumstances

The external conditions on the magic mountain are a bit spring-like. The thermometer shows five degrees above freezing. However, it will soon be getting dark at Semmering, and then the display will automatically plummet.

14:40

Who are the favourites?

The big question here is which athlete is most likely to take on American Mikaela Shiffrin. The 27-year-old has been in excellent shape on the Zauberberg so far and was able to win both giant slaloms from the previous days. In addition to Wendy Holdener from Switzerland, Petra Vlhová from Slovakia should be mentioned first and foremost, who has already been on the podium in three slaloms this winter. Austria’s Katharina Liensberger and Anna Swenn-Larsson from Sweden also think they have a chance.

14:27

Will Holdener succeed in the third prank?

Wendy Holdener (start number 5) had to wait for what felt like an eternity for her first World Cup victory and then she managed this feat twice over. Of course, the 29-year-old is again one of the favorites to win the day. Michelle Gisin (13) and Camille Rast (21) should also make it into the final without any problems. Aline Danioth (27), Melanie Meillard (32), Nicole Good (36), Elena Stoffel (37) will have to fight a little more for this intermediate goal.

14:16

ÖSV team wants to attack at the front

In the last part of the home World Cup, the team of the Austrian Ski Association wants to be at the forefront again. Katharina Liensberger (start number 4) and Katharina Truppe (9) have the required skills and, considering the starting order, have every opportunity to do so. With Katharina Huber (20), Chiara Mair (26), Franziska Gritsch (30), Marie-Therese Sporer (40), Lisa Hörhager (55), Valentina Pfurtscheller (60) and Sophia Waldauf (62), six more ÖSV runners will become wait at the start house to be deployed.

14:08

Dürr leads the DSV team

The German Ski Association is sending a total of five athletes into today’s race. Lena Dürr (start number 7) was almost always right at the front this slalom winter, but is still waiting for the first podium of the season. For the rest of the team, it’s not about the top positions for the time being, but about qualifying for the second race. This affects Andrea Filser (29), Emma Aicher (31) and Jessica Hilzinger (34). Marlene Schmotz (57) also follows with a high number.

14:00
