Frank Zuurendonk is working a little further in the engine room. “Here we cool the liquids that we pump to the ice rink. When we spray water over them, the water becomes so cold that it freezes.”
Mopping machine
Frank does this spraying with a mopping machine. While the Zamboni is the best known among the mopping machines, the Haarlem ice rink uses a WM. “The Zamboni comes from America and this one comes from Italy and you can simply get the parts in Europe.”
