Experienced striker Guido Burgstaller from SK Rapid will be out for months after a physical attack in downtown Vienna. As the club announced, the 35-year-old suffered a fractured skull and will have to spend a few more days in hospital.
“It is also a fact that he will not be able to practice his job for several months,” wrote the people from Hütteldorf. There were witnesses to the incident and Rapid now trusts “the responsible authorities that the previously unknown perpetrator will be quickly held responsible.”
Burgstaller is under contract in Vienna until the end of the season, after which he announced the end of his career. He remained part of the regular team at the third-place team in the Bundesliga and contributed eight goals and six assists in 24 competitive games.
