ESPN also noted that the injuries suffered from the accident will cause him to miss “significant time” on the courts but clarified that Oubre Jr. is expected to return to the team later this season.
Philadelphia authorities are investigating the accident.
Oubre Jr., 27, joined the Sixers this summer from the Charlotte Hornets and had had a very good start to the season with 16.3 points (50% accuracy in field goals) and 5.1 rebounds on average per encounter.
The player was one of the keys to the splendid start of Joel Embiid’s Sixers, who, with the James Harden soap opera resolved after his transfer to the Los Angeles Clippers, are leaders of the Eastern Conference and have won seven in a row (7-1).
