For the new Dutch version of musical classic Les Miserables 55,000 tickets have already been sold just six months before the big premiere. Producer De Graaf & Cornelissen reported this today.

It is the first time in fourteen years that the big musical hit can be seen in the Netherlands. In earlier versions Henk Poort, Ernst Daniël Smid, René van Kooten and Paul de Leeuw played along. Now the leading roles are for Milan van Waardenburg and Freek Bartels.

Les Miserables is based on the world famous book by writer Victor Hugo and tells of the misery of the French people in the half century after the revolution. The main storyline is Detective Javert’s obsession with the righteous Jean Valjean, who decides to flee and start a new life after 20 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread.

The new version of ‘Les Mis’ can be seen in Dutch theaters from March 2023.
