On Saturday, all sisters – ten in total – will move to their new place. Preparations started two years ago, but it is still an emotional farewell. “We have experienced a lot here: beautiful moments, sad moments. Parties, big parties… We would have to renovate and we said: we won’t start that. It is far too expensive and we could not do it, there are only so many sisters left,” says Sister Lucrese.
At 64 years old, Sister Lucrese is the youngest sister of the convent. She arrived in 1977 and no novices have been added in the past 45 years. The older sisters in particular are dreading a move, but the younger residents are eagerly looking forward to their new place without stairs.
