Earlier this year, a jury came by for an extensive explanation and an unannounced visit. According to the city, the fact that Sint-Janshospitaal ended up in the shortlist shows the international importance of the museum.
Bruges has already won prizes: in 2021, the renovated Gruuthuse Museum was awarded a European award for inclusion and hospitality.
The eventual winner of the Museum of the Year Award will be announced at a ceremony in 2026.
