Wimbledon’s sacred lawn has a new king: Jannik Sinner. The international press celebrates the world ranking list for his four-set success over Carlos Alcaraz, with whom he is the first Italian to win the classic lawn in London.

In his homeland, the “Corriere della Sera” speaks of “champagne tennis” and a “perfect match to forget Paris”. At the French Open, the Spaniard Alcaraz had triumphed in a memorable five-set thriller. The L’Equipe classifies that this year’s final on Church Road “did not climb the same heights” as that in Paris.

In Spain, too, “Marca” recognizes the “brilliant Sinner, who escapes the Wimbledon throne”, “as” speaks of the “revenge for Paris”. In England the “Sun” simply titles: “Sinner to Winner”. –
