The elimination of Carlos Alcaraz in the third round in Miami gives Jannik Sinner a great opportunity not only to get closer to the world number one, but to seriously be seen in the Spaniard’s rear-view mirrors, with the concrete possibility of putting the arrow in the clay season. Overtaking would in theory be possible already in Monte Carlo, but first Sinner must do what he does best: win.

At this moment, in the live ranking, Alcaraz has 13590 points, Sinner in second is 2140 points away, at 11450 points. With his elimination at the hands of Korda, the Spaniard can no longer earn points in Florida, while Sinner can. Each round passed will give Jannik a loot, since he has nothing to defend since last year, when he was unable to participate in the Miami tournament due to the suspension in agreement with Wada.

Sinner certainly has to defend the finals in Rome and Paris, but still 1100 points less than the champion from Murcia between the Forum and Roland Garros.
