The long season on clay begins in the Principality of Monaco, never so awaited for the long-distance confrontation between the Italian tennis player and the number one in the world
After a passionate start to the season on hard courts, with the first Slam in Melbourne and the two American tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, here is the return to Europe for the period dedicated to the major tournaments on clay, with the Slam in Paris closing this second phase. And it will always be Sinner against Alcaraz even if the two have not yet officially faced each other in 2026. Maybe it will already happen in Monte Carlo, where Jannik will start as the number 2 seed: let’s find out the Sinner winning odds at ATP Monte Carlo, scheduled for 5 to 12 April.
SINNER WINNING ODDS ATP MONTECARLO
—
Jannik arrives in Monte Carlo after having achieved the Sunshine Double, that is, victories in Indian Wells and Miami in the same year and what’s more without losing a single set. From Paris indoor last season to today, the world number two has won 17 consecutive matches in the Masters 1000 for a total of 34 sets. Ten more than Djokovic, absent in the Principality, who held the previous record. And Sinner’s path can continue on red clay, even if it is certainly not his favorite terrain.
The Italian considers the Monte Carlo tournament the beginning of a journey that will have to take him to the top in Paris, where he will play the only Slam he hasn’t won yet. The American successes allowed Jannik to forget the defeats in Melbourne in the semi-final against Djokovic and in Doha in the quarter-finals against Mensik. At Indian Wells and Miami, however, Alcaraz gave in almost immediately as they entered a crisis phase which also put his first place in the rankings in danger. Direct comparison in Monte Carlo in the final? We’ll see: in the meantime, according to the bookies, the Spaniard is the favorite to make his debut on clay. Winning Sinner can be found at 3.00 on Eurobet and Sisal and at 2.50 on Snai. Alcaraz, on the other hand, is worth 2.50 on Snai and Eurobet and 2.20 on Sisal.
THE CHALLENGE FOR RANKING
—
Thanks to the 2000 points won in America, Sinner has significantly closed the gap on Carlos Alcaraz, still number one in the world. But the Spaniard will now be forced to defend last season’s 1000 points, when he won in the final against our Musetti. At the start of the tournament, therefore, Carlos will have 12,590 points against the 12,400 of the Italian who had recently been suspended in 2025 due to the Clostebol case. This is why in case of victory in Monte Carlo, Jannik can officially return to number one in the world.
Alcaraz, among other things, will subsequently also have to defend the final in Barcelona and the triumphs in Rome and Paris: for Sinner there is truly a great possibility of an overtaking that no one expected possible in such a short time, especially after the defeat in Melbourne. In Monte Carlo the top tennis players in the ranking are very favourites, with only two rivals, according to the bookies of the main betting sites. The first is Musetti, last year’s finalist, who is on the board at 16, on Sisal and at 15.00 on Snai and Eurobet. The second is Zverev, at 12.00 on Snai, Eurobet and Sisal.
